Southwest’s Sip and Ship program now includes Texas

Alaska, Delta and Southwest Airlines offer programs that allow passengers to check up to a case of wine for free from select cities in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

And, now, thanks to the expansion of Southwest Airline’s Sip and Ship program, passengers 21 and older can also check up to a case of wine for free at four Texas airports.

Southwest debuted its Sip and Ship program in April 2026, inviting passengers departing from select airports in California, Washington, Oregon and Idaho to check up to a case of wine for free.

Now the list of participating airports has been expanded to include four airports served by Southwest in Texas Wine Country.

Those airports are:

Austin Bergstrom International (AUS),

William P. Hobby (HOU),

Dallas Love Field (DAL) and

San Antonio International (SAT)

Checking a box of wine doesn’t count towards your checked bag allowance. So you not only save the $45 first first-bag fee, but avoid the extra $10 fee Southwest tacks onto the fee if you’re checking a second bag.

Nice!

For review, here are the two other airline programs that allow passengers to check wine for free:

Alaska Airlines’ Wine Flies Free program allow Atmos Rewards members to check up to case of wine for free from 34 airports in Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho.

You can check a box of wine for free if you’re flying domestically to an Alaska Airlines destination from these cities:

California: Arcata-Eureka, Burbank, Fresno, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Ontario, Orange County, Palm Springs, Redding, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Sonoma County

Oregon: Eugene, Medford, Portland, and Redmond

Washington: Bellingham, Everett, Pasco, Pullman, Seattle, Spokane, Walla Walla, Wenatchee, and Yakima

Idaho: Boise, Idaho Falls, and Sun Valley

And, as a nice – and valuable – bonus, in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, your boarding pass is also good for free wine tastings in many wineries and tasting rooms as well.

Delta Sky Miles members can check up to a case of wine for free from a handful of Northern California airports under the carrier’s Wine Takes Flight program when traveling domestically on Delta or Delta Connection-operated flights

Participating airports include:

  • Oakland (OAK)
  • San Francisco (SFO)
  • San Jose (SJC)
  • Sacramento (SMF)
  • Sonoma County (STS) [

Cheers!
