Big things in store for SEA Concourse C expansion

The C Concourse Expansion project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is adding more than 225,000 square feet of much-needed new space.

Locals will love it. (The old Concourse C was not much fun). Better yet, it will open in time to welcome the tens of thousands of World Cup fans heading to town in mid-June.

The multi-tiered space has large windows offering views out to the airfield and the Olympic Mountains and a central hub with stadium seating beneath a sculptural gathering anchor called, appropriately enough, the Tree at C.

The expanded concourse will bring about a dozen new dining options to SEA, including a Chili’s and a Great State Burger, coffee shops, retail shops and kiosks and amenities such as an Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room and Nursing Suite, a pet relief area, a live music stage and more.

The upper levels will be home to restaurants, more viewing spots and, on the 3rd floor – a first for SEA: a glass encased lookout deck that is secure from the elements while still offering some fresh air.

And for fans of private lounges and Alaska Airlines, the Seattle-based carrier just announCed that it will build a 2-story lounge in Concourse C with its own viewing platform and separate spaces for domestic and international travelers.

When completed, this lounge will be the largest lounge for any airline in the U.S., with each story stretching out over 20,000 square feet.

During our visit, construction was still very much underway, but the completed facilities will, magically, look look just like the images in the virtual tour SEA shared before the project broke ground.

There’s a more detailed virtual tour to take here.

See you at SEA’s new Concourse C.
