Ping-pong

Take a (cool) seat at Milwaukee’s Mitchell Airport

Here’s a fun new amenity at Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport: State of Wisconsin-shaped Adirondack chairs, complete with edges of cheese as end tables!

Look for the chairs in Concourse D.

While you’re at MKE, you can also play ping-pong for free.

The table has been at the airport since 2011, when Milwaukee hosted the U.S. Table Tennis Open. The table at the airport was such a big hit, that they decided to keep it in place permanently.

Heathrow Serena Williams

Fancy a spot of ping-pong at the airport with tennis superstar Serena Williams?

That’s what some passengers at Heathrow Airport were treated to on Tuesday morning.

Williams had just arrived from JFK on an overnight Delta Air Lines flight on her way to Wimbledon and, as a bit of a warm-up, made time to play table tennis with some other travelers.

Serena Williams challenges Delta travelers at Heathrow to an impromptu game of table tennis. The tennis icon flew from New York’s JFK to London where she will compete at the All England Club.

You may not see Serena Williams there, but you can also play ping-pong at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.

No time to go to China this summer? Then consider going to Milwaukee.

The city’s “Summer of China” celebration includes an exhibit of Chinese art and architecture at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The U.S. Table Tennis Open was played in town earlier this month.

To keep the love going, there are ping-pong tables set up around town for anyone to use.

You’ll find them at the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the InterContinental Milwaukee Hotel, Mitchell Park Conservatory, Chase Bank Plaza, Horny Goat Hideaway and Lakefront Brewery and in the main concession mall at the General Mitchell International Airport.
