Logan Airport in tune with Boston Red Sox

Last Friday’s  “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” song contest at Boston Logan International Airport must have been a hoot.

Ten brave Boston Red Sox fans showed up at the new Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill in Terminal C and sang their versions of the springtime classic in front of a panel of  “celebrity” judges and loads of curious travelers.

Alan Rogers of Warner, NH won first place in the singing contest and will get to sit with Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy in the booth at a Red Sox home game.  Here’s a a video of Rogers singing his winning version of the song.

It had to be re-scheduled due to the Red Sox opening-day rain-out, but this Friday, April 17th, beginning at noon, folks will be singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Boston Logan International Airport in hopes of winning big prizes.

jerry-remy-and-wallyThe competition is part of the opening celebration for Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar and Grill in Logan’s Terminal C.   Remy, the well-known Red Sox Nation President and Boston Red Sox sports announcer, will be joined by Wally the Green Monster (the Boston Red Sox mascot) and assorted other celebrities who will help choose the winners of the song contest.

1st prize: a Red Sox road game package, with airfare and hotel  accommodations, to the Red Sox vs. the Chicago White Sox game in Chicago on Labor Day Weekend.

2nd prize: A chance to bring a guest and sit in the broadcast booth alongside Jerry Remy during a Red Sox home game.

3rd prize: A $50 gift certificate to Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill.

Update: 1:15 pm:  Organizers say the “Take Me Out the Ballgame” song contest at Boston Logan Airport has been rescheduled to Friday, April 17th from noon to 2 pm.

Update: Yikes! Red Sox opening day is postponed! Logan Airport contest may be postponed/altered as well.  Stay tuned. (10:30 am).

Tomorrow (Tues., April 7, 2009) from noon -2 pm, Red Sox Fans at Boston Logan Airport (BOS) will be belting out their versions of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” in hopes of winning some great prizes.

The contest takes place at the newly opened Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill, located pre-security in Boston Logan’s Terminal C. Red Sox Nation President Jerry Remy will be on hand to deliver a “State of the Red Sox Nation” address and Wally the Green Monster will be on hand help pick contest winners.

And what can you win?

1st place: A Red Sox road game package, including airfare, hotel stay, and tickets to see the Red Sox vs. the Chicago White Sox in Chicago on Labor Day Weekend.

2nd place: You and guest will get to sit in the broadcast booth with Jerry Remy during a Red Sox home game.

If you don’t want to enter the singing contest, you can still score some prizes. Wally the Green Monster will pose for photos with fans and Red Sox memorabilia will be raffled off.

On Tuesday, April 7th, Red Sox fans willing to sing a version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Boston Logan Airport will have a chance to win prizes, impress other travelers, or simply make fools of themselves.  You – and Wally the Green Monster – can help decide the winners.

The contest is part of the opening celebrations for Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar and Grill, located pre-security in Terminal C.  (Remy is Red Sox Nation President and Boston Red Sox Sportscaster).  The first place winner will receive a Red Sox road game package that includes airfare, hotel stay, and tickets to see the Red Sox vs. the Chicago White Sox in Chicago on Labor Day Weekend.

Don’t want to sing? Wally the Green Monster will be taking photographs with fans and Remy will be signing scorecards from the 2007 World Series. They’ll also be raffling off Red Sox memorabilia.
