Dating tips for fliers from CLE Airport

Here’s a ‘meet-cute on an airplane’ story that has gone viral, thanks to the help of social media.

A young woman named Grace set off for vacation on an early Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) last week. But the flight was delayed by a maintenance issue.

Rather than be irritated by the delay, Grace focused her attention on the maintenance team worker by her seat who appeared to have hurt himself while working to resolve the problem. She decided he was cute. And took to Reddit to try to make a post-flight connection.

“…..If you were the dark haired maintenance guy at the Cleveland airport who hurt himself while working on the frontier flight at 6am this morning (7/8):

Hi I hope you’re okay and this is a long shot but like I didn’t see no ring (lol) and I wanted to give you my number while you were standing next to my seat and I smiled at you but you looked really busy. You were very handsome and I’m also an aviation enthusiast, so like if you see this and you’re open to it, I’d love to connect with you 🙂 “

Thanks to the help of social media and airport matchmakers, the connection was made within 24 hours.

And, when Grace touched down at CLE after her vacation, the maintenance worker – Simon – was there to meet her. With flowers. (Nice touch).

Here’s the original Reddit post, along with the posted updates on the viral ‘will they find each other?’ story.

We’re rooting for Grace and Simon, and anyone else who takes a change on making a connection in transit.
