YVR airport thrift shop filled with goodies

What happens to all that stuff people “voluntarily surrender” at the airport checkpoints or leave behind in the airport?
At Vancouver International Airport, all that stuff ends up at the thrift store operated by the Airport Chaplaincy. Need a belt? Good chance you’ll one there.
