The StuckatTheAirport.com museum review team is in London this week and doing our best to visit as many unusual spots as we can.
On touchdown we made a beeline for the the Hunterian Museum, which highlights the extraordinary collection of specimens and other items of 18th century surgeon anatomist John Hunter.
The museum reopened in 2023 after a 5 year closure during the renovation of the headquarters of its host organization, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and we were anxious to get a look inside.

The museum is home to England’s largest public display of human anatomy and features an educational and intriguing display of about 3,000 anatomical preparations from Hunter’s original collection.
Mixed in are instruments, equipment, models, paintings and archive material tracing the history of surgery from ancient times to the latest robot-assisted operations.
Here are some snaps. (We’ve skipped the gruesome specimens.. )

Admisson to the highly recommended and just a wee bit hard to find Hunterian Museum is free. There’s a cafe in the building, which we’ll visit when we go back and do our shopping in the museum gift shop.
