5 Things We Love About: SCP Redmond Hotel

The Stuck at TheAirport adventure team recently tested out SeaPort Airlines and flew from Portland to Redmond, Oregon to spend three days exploring Central Oregon.

We hiked, we visited the High Desert Museum, the Petersen Rock Garden in Redmond and a variety of other area attactions.

And at the end of each day, we returned to our basecamp at the 48-room SCP Redmond Hotel, a lovingly revived historic hotel that opened in 2019 in the heart of downtown Redmond as part of SCP Hotels family.

We would have loved to meet the beer-drinking pet monkey that lived in the original hotel’s basement during the 1930s. But there are plenty of reasons to choose SCP Redmond Hotel for a modern-day stay.

5 Things We Love About the SCP Redmond Hotel

1 The Rooms at SCP Redmond

SCP Hotels (Soul, Community Planet) emphasize personal wellness, social good, and the environment.

That’s evident in the rooms. At the SCP Redmond Hotel the rooms have a clean, minimalist style that hightlights sustainable and regionally sourced materials.

We loved the super comfy bed, the mini-fridge, the work desk and the big, bright tiled bathroom.

2. The amenities

There’s a fitness center and a cozy lobby with complimentary, locally-sourced coffee available around the clock.

And every guest recieves a token at check-in good for a barista-coffee in the lobby market or that day’s featured cocktail.

3 The Terra Kitchen

Terra Kitchen is the hotel’s field-to-fork restaurant, highlighting ingredients from local farms and the property’s rooftop garden. I had two delightful veggie dishes, but the pizza and entree sections of the menu offer plenty of dishes for meat eaters.

4. The Rooftop

The Rooftop at SCP Redmond is an indoor/outdoor dining space with panoramic views of the Cascade Range, including Three Sisters volcanic peaks (Faith, Hope, and Charity), Mount Bachelor, Black Butte, and Smith Rock State Park.

5. The Provisions Market

Open daily, Provisions Market is adjacent to the hotel lobby and offers all-day breakfast, lunch, coffee, lattes, smoothies, and a variety of snack items. We loved that there were (very reasonably priced) ice cream treats in the cooler.
