Travelers needing to fuel up before hitting the road have a new option at Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
In addition to a branch of Seattle’s Best Coffee, the airport’s rental car center is now home to the Cuban Corner, serving high-octane Cuban coffee and authentic Cuban and Caribbean pastries, including Jamaican patties and empanadas, from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.
The two coffee stands are just across the walking bridge from Terminal 1, so it’s not only convenient for rental car customers picking up or dropping off their vehicles, but also a good option for passengers of Southwest, United/Continental, Virgin America and AirTran – and a reminder that sometimes you need to leave the safety net of your gate and seek out options elsewhere in the airport.
According to Alan Gluck, Aviation Manager – Concessions for the Broward County Aviation Department, “Traditionally rental car center concessions at airports have not thrived, but this one is starting off like a rocket!”
Could be all those café con leches.
