JetBlue is doing its bit to help make holiday get-togethers a bit more fun and rewarding by rolling out a limited edition travel-themed board game called Get Packing!
The Get Packing game goes on sale at Amazon.com on December 12 for $19.99 and the list of what’s in the box reads: 6 Packing Boards, 60 Packing Cards, 48 Wild Cards, 1 die, 1 rule book and 1 certificate for a JetBlue flight, making this a potentially great travel deal even if you don’t actually sit down and play the game.

Oakland International Airport just announced the winning photos in its What You Do With The Extra Hour Is Up To You photo contest. Three winners won vacations just for sending in photos depicting how they’d spend the extra time they supposedly got by choosing OAK over other airports.
You missed that contest, but to celebrate four years of Korean Air service from McCarran International Airport to Incheon Airport in Seoul, Korea, there’s a contest to give away two sets of round-trip tickets from Las Vegas to Seoul.
First prize is a pair of business class tickets. Second prize: a pair of economy class tickets. Enter here. Deadline is December 8, 2010.
Next week is National Customer Service Week, so on Tuesday, October 5th, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is having its 2nd annual Customer Appreciation Day.
The airport’s mascot, Amelia the Airplane, and Paradise Bakery’s giant cookie mascot will be on hand to greet travelers and pose for photos. And many of the shops, restaurants and rental car outlets will be handing out small gifts ranging from stickers, magnets and beanie babies to food samples and bags of popcorn.
Volcano-delayed flights to and from Europe and beyond are resuming, but airport closures and flight cancellations may continue on-and-off for weeks. So this NYT tracking map may be handy for a while longer.

In the meantime, people have been opening their homes to stranded passengers and theaters, museums and restaurants have been offering discounted and free entertainment and meals to folks who found themselves stuck at the airport. At JFK, the company that operates all the restaurants and fast-food outlets in Terminal 4 – SSP America – organized a free buffet meal for about 300 on Monday night. Breakfast for 300 was served Tuesday morning as well.
And no doubt because I spent so much time learning about the ins and outs of some very tiny and unusual airports for a Bing story titled: Easy Flier: 10 airports that reduce the hassle, I was extremely interested in this story on CNN, which discusses some other small airports around the country that end up having to offer free flights in order to maintain federal funding.
