Big Game

Airports, governors place bets on the Big Game

Lots of people have placed lots of bets on the outcome of the Big Game on Sunday, February 8, between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

That includes the officials at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and governors of Washington and Massachusetts.

Here is what’s on the line.

SEA airport vs. BOS airport wager

Officials from the Port of Seattle, which operates SEA Airport, have thrown down a ‘friendly wager’ with their counterparts at Massport, which operates Boston Logan International Airport.

The bet: whoever loses must sport the other team’s jersey for a day AND send some of the airport’s finest treats to the the winning airport.

Bets by the governors of Massachusetts & Washington State

If the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots, then Massachusetts Governor, Maura Healey, and Legal Sea Foods will be sending Washington Governor Bob Ferguson two live Maine lobsters, New England clam chowder, a curated selection of East Coast oysters, and classic lobster rolls.

But if the Patriots claim victory, Washington’s governor will be sending a surprise package of Northwest shellfish and coffee back east.

Cute alert: Denver Int’l Airport Puppy Bowl

Football fan or not, if you like puppies (and who doesn’t?) you’ll want to tune in to Denver International Airport’s (DEN) Facebook live broadcast of this year’s Puppy Bowl.

The adorable face-off takes place Friday, Feb 10 from 10 a.m. to noon (Denver time).

If you’re in the DEN terminal, make your way to Level 5, near passenger arrival, to see it live.

DEN teams up with the Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) for this event, which doubles as an adoption event.

Here are some adorable puppy pics from past DEN Puppy Bowls so you know what to expect.

Airport Valentines + Miniature Airplanes + More

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and airports and airlines are getting to land some love.

In Las Vegas, the pop-up marriage license bureau is back at the Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) to help streamline the uptick in weddings that take place in Sin City around Valentine’s Day.

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) will once again be handing out hundreds of red, pink, and white carnations to passengers on Valentine’s Day. Look for the PHL Volunteer Navigator team starting at 10 am in Terminal AEast and F.

At PHL, Philadelphia artist Carole Loeffler will also be onsite Valentine’s Day handing out hundreds of her hand-cut red felt hearts bearing rolled messages of love. Her HeartFelt giveaways will occur from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, across from the food court located between Terminals B and C.
