Who’s Jett?

Jett (on the left…) is the mascot for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

SEA will celebrate the otter’s birthday on December 4 with balloons, bubbles, cupcakes, cookies, liv music, photo opps and more.

Another airport offers a gate pass program for non-ticketed guests

We’re keeping track of the growing list of airports that offer gate pass programs inviting non-ticketed guests into the terminal to go out to the gates with departing passengers, greet friends and loved ones as they come off the plane, dine, shop, view art, listen to music and watch airplanes comes and go.

Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) rolled out its program this week.

Here’s a list of other airports with gate pass programs.

Bee Mascot for Orlando Sanford Int’l Airport

Look What’s Coming to Lafayette Regional Airport

Lafayette Regional Airport (LFT) is opening its new terminal in January 2022 and it looks like it will have some colorful amenities.

What’s up at Kentucky’s Louisville Int’l Airport?

To celebrate Minth Julep Month – and the Kentucky Derby, where the Mint Julep is the official cocktail – the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport has created a living wall with more than 700 fresh mint plants.

Here’s a video of the installation.

This week the airport also hosted a party, with this great cake. The occasion: a celebration of the inaugural American Airlines flight from SDF to Los Angeles International Airport.

Here’s are some of the other reasons we’re celebrating SDF airport this week:

They have a mascot named Skye. They just opened a new room for nursing mothers. And the post-security Distillery District Marketplace enables travelers to buy Kentucky-distilled spirits to take home.

A marvelous mascot at Japan’s Centrair Airport

It’s not unusual for airports to have mascots, but I’m especially charmed by mascot at Chubu Centrair International Airport near Nagoya, Japan.

Centrair Airport mascot

The mascot appears at the information desk, in signs, posters and in airport advertising. But to my delight, the mascot also appeares in many forms of souvenirs for sale in the aviation-themed shop in the pre-security Sky Town shopping mall on the top floor of the airport.

Of course, now I need to make a list of airport mascots. Please help me get started by sharing any that you know about in the comments section below.
