I’ve been gathering up images and information about fun airline liveries for a story to be delivered next week and finally made contact with a representative at Eva Air, the Taiwan-based airline that has five Hello Kitty-themed jets: Magic, Apple, Global, Happy Music and Speed Puff.
The Hello Kitty theme isn’t just painted onto the jets, it extends inside, where there are more than 100 in-flight service items, including some the fun and very cute items below.
And – my favorite – the kid’s meal.
ANA (All Nippon Airlines) was founded in 1952 and to celebrate its 60th anniversary the Japanese airline held a contest to design a special anniversary aircraft livery.
Passengers and airline employees were invited to vote for one of nine short-listed entries chosen from a whopping 7,042 entries and the design shown on the model below was chosen as the winner.
The design has been painted onto one of ANA’s 767-300 aircraft operating on domestic routes and is being unveiled in Japan on Saturday.
Alaska Airlines is having a Paint the Plane contest.
The airline has decided to paint a 737 with a Hawaiian theme and asked Hawaii schoolchildren to submit their ideas. These three designs have been chosen as finalists and Hawaiian residents are being asked to vote for a winner. The winning design will get painted on a plane and the winning artist will get a$ $5,000 scholarship and a trip for four to any Alaska Airlines destination.

Each of these designs looks pretty snazzy. If you’re a resident of Hawaii you can vote for your favorite here. The rest of us will just have to wait and see which design wins and wait to see the newly painted plane flying by.
Voting ends December 18, 2012. The winner will be announced January 10, 2013.
ANA – All Nippon Airways -will turn 60 in December, 2012 and as part of the celebration the airline is going to paint one of its 767 airplanes in whatever design gets the most votes in an on-line contest.
ANA got more than 7,000 designs submitted for the contest and has posted the finalists for people to vote on between now and October 21st, with the winning design to be announced on December 1st.
