customer appreciation day

Friday is Customer Appreciation Day at Pittsburgh Airport

People are generally nice at Pittsburgh International Airport, but on Friday, morning December 3rd they’re going to be extra nice.

PIT Customer Appreciation

That’s because on Friday, from 10 a.m. until noon, it’s customer appreciation day at the airport.

In addition to live music and tree decorating in the pre and post-security areas, you’ll find many airlines and car rental agencies hosting activities at their counters and airport ambassadors handing out candy canes and cookies. Anyone who makes a donation (of any amount) to United Way will get a chance to spin a prize wheel for some of the great gifts donated by airport merchants.  Many airports shops will be having special discounts and promotions as well.

Why is the airport being so nice?  Pittsburgh International Airport has trained hundreds of its employees in Resiliency Edge’s N.I.C.E. (Neutralizing Irritations Customers Experience) program, which is designed to solve customer problems.  So having a customer appreciation day is, well, just nice!

To find out more about Pittsburgh Airport’s customer appreciation day and see a list of discounts and specials being offered by various shop, see the notice on the  PIT website.

If there’s any chance you will be at the airport, be sure to print out the page – some extra discounts are being offered to those who show the N.I.C.E. day notice.

Free gifts and music at Raleigh-Durham Int’l Airport on Customer Appreciation Day

North Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is having a party this Friday (October 9th, 2009) as part of the airport’s annual Customer Appreciation Day.  On the agenda: free music, free gifts, and a chance to win free airplane tickets and other prizes.

During the event, The Shops of RDU restaurants will offer samples of  signature menu items, specialty retail shops will hand out giveaways items, and some airlines will hold drawings for free tickets.

The event, which is part of National Customer Service Week, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the airport’s parking garage atrium.

But wait… there’s more!  The TSA, the USO, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other organizations and agencies will have exhibits, there’ll be live Calypso and Dixieland jazz music, and there will be drawings for gifts from airport shops.

Don’t you wish every day was Customer Appreciation Day?

At PHX: Customer Appreciation Day – with a chicken

Next Wednesday, October 7, during the first Customer Appreciation Day at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), passengers will be treated to free candy, newspapers, coffee samples and more.

Some airport stores will be giving away free Arizona Republic newspapers. Others will hand out candy, snacks and post cards. Many airport restaurants will offer food specials and discounts. Starbucks will have beverage and pastry samples. And Travel Ex currency exchange will be waiving fees on all currency transactions.
PHX Amelia the Airplane

Sky Harbor’s mascot, Amelia the Airplane, will be flying around (and posing for pictures) and there will surely be a crowd out at the Rental Car Center when the folks at Fresh Gourmet to Go bring out the performing chicken.

Now that’s appreciation!!

Customer appreciation day at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int’l Airport

Here’s unusual and welcome news from an airport:

Today, Friday, Oct. 17, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is having an appreciation celebration for passengers.

No joke!

South Atlanta High School’s 20-member Drum Line kicks-off today’s event, which will include a costumed Buckingham Palace Guard, face painters, musical performances, an African storyteller and traditional dance from Atlanta Asian Culture and Arts Center performers.

The party kicks off in the Main Terminal/Atrium at 12:30 with the high school Drum Line. Part of the promised entertainment is a “game show host on a Segway.”

The costumed palace guards start the afternoon on Concourse E at 1:30 p.m and will be followed by Spanish Guitarist, Cucho Garcia, African story-teller Cynthia Watts and a traditional dance from Atlanta Asian Culture and Arts Center performers.

Maybe every airport should make Friday customer appreciation day!
