Sporty safety video from United Airlines

United Airlines new safety video

The summer Olympics in Brazil don’t kick off until August, but United Airlines – which has been flying Team USA athletes to training events and competitions for more than 35 – has a new Team USA-themed safety video ready to spring into action on May 1.

The video features appearances by star athletes including decathlon champion Ashton Eaton, swimmer Missy Franklin and others who will compete in gymnastics, weightlifting, soccer, basketball, swimming and other Olympic events, as well as (very) fleeting glimpses of Nessie the Sea Monster and the llama from previous videos.

On a special Team USA section of the United Hub website, fans can also view behind-the-scenes footage, photos and interviews taken during the making of the new video and watch a short video filled with travel and packing tips offered by United crewmembers and athletes. Ashton Eaton is a fan of packing cubes, Missy Franklin is, not surprisingly, a big advocate for staying hydrated, and trampoline athlete Logan Dooley’s favorite packing method evidently involves shoving everything into a suitcase and sitting on it until it can be zipped.

Fun new safety video from Delta Air Lines

Fun, offbeat airline safety videos designed to catch the attention of ‘seen it a hundred times’ passengers continue to roll off the line.

The latest comes to us from Delta, the airline that brought us ‘The Internetest safety video on the Internet,” and other classics.

Like the others, this new video has some fun features and special surprises, including a a chipmunk (or is that a squirrel?) putting an acorn in the overhead bin, Moses parting the back-up in the aisles, a couple of crusty sailors, the Yo Gabba Gabba monsters and more..

New Hobbit-themed safety video from Air New Zealand

They’ve done it before with Golden Girl Betty White, the ribald puppet Rico, Richard Simmons and a crew of almost naked crewmembers:

Now, to celebrate the third and final film in The Hobbit Trilogy (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), Air New Zealand has put together another fun, star-studded in-flight Hobbit-themed safety video.

This one stars Elijah Wood, Sir Peter Jackson and a host of other odd characters and is highly entertaining – even if (like me) you haven’t seen a Hobbit movie nor read any of the Hobbit-inhabited books.

Enjoy!
