Traveling to or through Denver International Airport (DEN) soon?

Certain Capital One cardholders and anyone willing to buy a $ 65 single visit pass can now spend their airport dwell time in the comfy Plaza Premium Lounge on Concourse A, on the mezzanine level near Gate A34.

Amenities include local artwork, plenty of comfy seating areas, private workspaces, phone booths, shower suites, a parents’ room, relaxation rooms, and plenty of tasty offerings for food and drink.

As with its other lounges, some of the dishes and drinks are very local. Here, for example, there’s a Colorado Ground Bison Sloppy Joe on the menu, draft beers curated by Cerveceria Colorado and some specialty cocktails created by Denver’s Yacht Club Bar.

SFO Museum presents Kay Sekimachi: Weaving Traditions

The SFO Museum at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is offering a new exhibit featuring the work of pioneering fiber artist Kay Sekimachi.

Her weavings feature a wide range of media and techniques, including on- and off-loom textiles, stitched-paper forms, and molded fiber bowls.

The exhibit, Kay Sekimachi: Weaving Traditions, presents a retrospective of Kay Sekimachi’s extraordinary woven art from the collection of Forrest L. Merrill and is at SFO’s Harvey Milk Terminal 1

Touring the (still new) Air France business lounge at CDG

It was officially completed in July (2018), but Air France’s business class lounge in Hall L of Terminal 2 E at Paris-Charles deGaulle Airport, still looks (and smells) brand new.

Here are some snaps from a recent tour of the 540-seat lounge capping off a fast four-day visit to London and Paris that included a ride on the Eurostar as part of the #LondonParisNow campaign.

The bar – called “Le Balcon” –  was designed by Mathieu Lehanneur and is self-serve much of the day, but from 6:30 p.m. to about 10 p.m. there’s a bartender on duty mixing up a menu of specialty-created cocktails.

The wellness area include restrooms with saunas, 20-minute complimentary Clarins spa services, a ‘detox’ bar with healthy potions and a quiet rest area with day beds.

There’s also a special play for kids and a ‘Petit Salon’ area offering extra privacy for special guests:

And then, of course, there’s food.  In addition to a self-serve buffet, there’s a “Gourmet Table” where a chef prepares a ‘dish of the day’:

Air France says this is what passengers can look forward to in other cities where the lounges are scheduled to be upgraded as well.

There’s lots to ooh and aah about at the new Star Alliance lounge at the just-opened Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport and you can read some of the highlights in the story I wrote about the lounge for the CNBC Road Warrior.

Reader review: Turkish Airlines lounge at Istanbul Airport

A recent post here on StuckatTheAirport.com shared news about the renovated Turkish Airlines lounge at the Istanbul Airport, which has private relaxation rooms, showers, a playroom, private infant rooms, a billiard lounge, a library, and a business center.

I haven’t had the chance to visit the airport – or this swanky lounge – in person, but reader Orit Rindner has:

“I ate a full lunch and a full dinner (5 hour layover), had a shower and then they gave me a room to rest in. I would give it a 10. I even took a pic of the ladies room… Even the doors of the stalls were teak and I think and they had a woman clean each toilet every time somebody came out of it and fold the toilet paper like they do in hotels!”
