The last photo of the little boys looking over the rail could be me sixty years ago. Living just a mile from the airport, I frequented LaGuardia just to whistle at the stewardesses and to enjoy a little boys adventure. Love those days in the 1940's.
I visited NY last year and got lost in the change after so many years of many memories.
I did enjoy climbing to the top of the Statue of Liberty after 59 years and visiting Ellis Island where my parents arrived in 1902.

70 years? Yeah, I can see that. I flew through there a month or two ago and it was pretty run down and in desperate need of modernization. No subway to LGA! What's up with that?

Love the quote from Mayor LaGuardia. That sounds like the New Yorkers I know and love. New Yorkers do NOT like New Jersey (and vice versa). It is a continuing bone of contention that the Jets and the Giants are actually over the river.
