Smoking at the airport
Posted on January 14th, 2009 by Harriet Baskas

Do you smoke or know someone who does?
I’m working on an article about smoking and air travel and wondering which airports are most ‘smoker-friendly.’
Denver? Atlanta? Miami?

The last time I was through Las Vegas McCarran it had smoking areas in quite a few places. I foudn Albuquerque was not smoker friendly. The mayor declared all city property as non-smoking and the airport is city property. So, no smoking areas even outside.
Atlanta rocks!
Las Vegas – I was there a year ago and they didn’t have any smoking areas.
Richmond – home to Phillip Morris – sucks
All my examples are International airports… is that of any use?
Yes, I’d love to get some examples of smoking spots at international airports.

Smokers, go to your crate!!
There’s a smoking lounge after you’ve been through security in Auckland International Airport in New Zealand! Thank god…
At DIA the Mesa Grill their are alot of military service people who come in to smoke before they are flown overseas to service out country and it is a shame that they can no longer smoke. We pay taxes and are treated like second class people and I am tired of it. I do not drink and so I choose to smoke before flying.
